Toxicodendron diversilobum. About half of the people who come in contact with it are allergic to this troublesome but very attractive plant. It is found in western North America, from British Columbia to Baja California. It thrives in many habitats below 5,000 feet, but it does best in woodlands and in partly shaded areas, like our hillside forest overlooking the Napa Valley.
